Free Practice ACT @ RRHS!
In conjunction with Omniac Education, RRHS will offer a free Practice ACT Test and follow up ACT Workshop for the Spring '14 semester!

2013-14 ACT Prep Course
Omniac Education and Rio Rancho High School are proud to present the RRHS Spring ACT Prep Program for the 2013-14 school year! The program is intended to help students become "college ready" by raising ACT scores. The ACT Exam can be a formidable experience for many high school students but this unique course can help you master the tests and do your absolute best! This program is intended to prepare students for the April 12th, 2014 ACT Exam.

Program Summary:
  • 10 hours of Classroom instruction
  • 2 Diagnostic ACT Exams (one optional)
  • Omniac Manual (approx 100 pages)
  • Complimentary "Real ACT Prep Guide"

Western State Colorado University Visit to RRHS!!
An admissions representative from Western State Colorado University will be on campus to discuss admissions information with interested students on January 29th, @ 8:00am in AD 104. Students can see Mr Romansky in AD 104 to sign up!!

FAFSA Assistance Workshop @ RRHS!!

Rio Rancho High School will be hosting a FAFSA Assistance Night on Tuesday, February 4th  from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the RRHS Media Center.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (known as the FAFSA) is a form that is prepared annually by high school Seniors and their parents to determine their eligibility for student financial aid. Some of these programs include Pell Grants, Federal student loans and Federal Work-Study. Representatives from New Mexico Student Loans and the University of New Mexico will be on hand to assist families with the on-line application and other financial aid-related questions. Interested students and parents who would like to attend this event may want to bring:

Students’ Social Security card, driver’s license,  2012-13 W-2 forms and other records of money earned  and IRS 1040, 1040A, 1040 EZ forms.

  • Parents’ 2012-13 Federal Income Tax Return, 2012-13 untaxed income records, current bank statements, business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond and other investment records, and alien registration or permanent resident card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

 Parents and students are strongly encouraged to request their individual PIN numbers for the application ahead of time to speed up the process. Pin Numbers can be obtained at www.pin.ed.gov

Texas Tech Visit to RRHS!!!
An admissions representative from Texas Tech University will be on campus to discuss adminissions information with interested students on Novemeber 19th @ 10:00am in the RRHS Media Center. Students can sign up with Mr Romansky in AD104.
US Naval Academy Visit to RRHS!!!!

Students interested in applying to a Service Academy are invited to attend an information session with a  current Naval Academy Midshipman on Tuesday, November 26th during 7th period in E&T 110.  Students can request a pass to the session from their counselor.

Ft Lewis College Visit to RRHS!!
Admissions Representatives from Ft Lewis College will be on campus to visit with interested students on November 5th from 8:30am-10:30am. All interested students are welcome to attend. Current Seniors will be able to meet individually to review their admissions applications and have their admissions status determined as well as determine what Ft Lewis scholarships they qualify for at this time. New Mexico State's comprehensive scholarship application, The Scholar Dollar, is now open for students entering for Fall 2014.  The deadline to apply for NMSU's competitive scholarships is fast approaching! Follow this link to NMSU Scholarship information! http://fa.nmsu.edu/scholarships/

  • The President's Associates Excellence, High Achiever Leadership and Honors Excel scholarships  have a deadline date of December 2, 2013.  Students must be tentatively admitted and complete the Scholar Dollar$ application by this date in order to be considered for these competitive scholarships.
  • Students applying for all other NMSU scholarships must be admitted by February 17, 2014. 
  • The Scholar Dollar$ application will remain open until March 3, 2014.

FAFSA Completion Night!!!!
Rio Rancho High School will be offering a FAFSA Assistance Night to help graduating Seniors and parents complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A representative from New Mexico Educational Assistance Foundation along with representatives from UNM will be available to answer questions and assist with the application.

The event will take place on Wednesday, January 30th from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the RRHS Media Center.

To complete the application students and parents may need to refer to:
Social Security Card, Driver's License, tax forms from previous year, bank statements, mortgage information, investment records etc.

To speed up the process both student and parent can obtain their PIN number to the application in advance at: http://www.pin.ed.gov

Leadership / Scholarship Opportunity for Current Juniors!!!

Great Opportunity for Juniors

The Rosemont Leadership Institute (RLI), in collaboration with the University of New Mexico (UNM) and New Mexico State University (NMSU), is selecting exceptional high school students for enrollment in its flagship scholarship program. RLI invites applications from high school students who plan to attend UNM or NMSU, are passionate about building their leadership skills, addressing national/global issues, and becoming agents of change.

The program is open to high school juniors and enrollment is limited to 30 students. Interested high school juniors should apply through their high school guidance counselor or download an application at rosemontleadership.org.  Applications are now being accepted through Friday, January 11, 2013.

Rosemont scholars who complete the program will receive a $25,000 grant towards the cost of their education. The program will provide students with the training, financial resources, global awareness, and professional networks needed to succeed in a competitive and knowledge based world.

How to Qualify

  1. Must be a New Mexico Resident. 
  2. Must be a junior enrolled in a New Mexico high school with a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of a 2.5, which must be maintained in order to continue with the institute. (must submit an official or unofficial copy of a current high school transcript). 
  3. Must commit to completing the two-week Rosemont Leadership Institute summer program in full (one week before and after Senior year). 
  4. Must commit to completing the Rosemont Challenge during your senior year 
  5. Must agree attend either New Mexico State University or the University of New Mexico.
